On 19th of July, “Brexit and the future of Europe”, a public discussion was held at the EU information center in Sofia, Bulgaria. The discussion was organised by Ilhan Kyuchyuk, MEP of the ALDE Group, in cooperation with the Liberal Integration Foundation, the Liberal Institute for Political Analysis and the Friedrich Naumann Freedom Foundation.
Ilhan Kyuchyuk opened the discussion with the words that “The Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the European Union is a unique chance for us not only to moderate the Brexit talks and the relations between UK and the EU, but also to show to ourselves and Europe that we are capable of conducting a meaningful European debate”
Sajjad Karim, UK’s MEP of the European Conservatives and Reformist Group (ECRG) was a special guest of the event. Participation in the event also took Daniel Kadik, Director of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in South Eastern Europe, Evelina Slavkova, Sociologist at Trend Research Center, Biserka Benisheva, Ambassador and Director of European Affairs at PanEurope Bulgaria, Sergui Boghean, Member of the Board of the Directors of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC), Zinaida Zlatanova from the Liberal Institute for Political Analysis.
