On November 16-18, a seminar on “Freedom of expression in the Balkans“ was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, organized by Young Liberals Greece jointly with Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
During the seminar, the topics on the level of freedom of expression in the Balkans as well as in the Western European countries were discussed. Current topics, such as the difficulties faced by member states, as well as the fate of the EU, were also debated.
Elif Khaliybryamova and Burchin Ahmedova presented the “Liberal Integration” Foundation at the forum. The participants actively took part in the discussions and made a presentation on the extent of freedom of speech in Bulgaria. 20 young liberals from 6 countries (Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia, Azerbaijan) participated in the seminar. Together the participants prepared a report on the obstacles to freedom of expression and offered their own ideas for overcoming them, which was a successful end to the event.
“It was a pleasure for us to share experiences and generate new ideas with colleagues from other countries,” said Elif and Burchin.
